I am 40 yrs old. I’ve been at this workout thing for just over six months. I am still a beginner, obviously. I enjoy “straight to the bar” much more than I ever enjoyed musculardevelopment.com
Glad to hear it Roger, thanks. Are you working on any goals in particular? What are your workouts like? Free weights? body weight?
A new subscriber looking forward to your newsletter
Hey Josh!
I just read your piece over at ProBlogger. Thanks for giving us “newbies” the inspiration to keep at this thing called Blogging!
MZ
@Mike Zen. Thanks! As one newbie to another, a little encouragement goes a long way. How long have you been at it?
Just read your Blogging is a Dialect article at copyblogger. Loved it!!!! So here I am. Looking forward to reading more of what you write so well.
Thanks for giving my brain somethin’ fun to chew on today!
Marna
Marna, thanks. Much appreciated.
Hi Josh,
Just finished reading your great article at Men with Pens.
I love it, love it. I’ve subscribed to your newsletter and i’m brought here.
You know My favorite take was this one: “These days, it’s easy for anyone to get their hands on 94% of the information. The top dogs are those who provide their customers with that extra 6%.”
We are working in the same direction and it brings us success and good reputation.
Shot me a message, we forsee some areas of possible collaboration with your business.
@Mawuna. I sent you an email. Thanks for the invitation.
good morning john, i am enjoying your blog very much this morning, i am now following you on twitter, and i subscibed to your newsletter as well. we seem to share the same kind of sense of humor (scarey isn’t it?). I found you through, you’ll never guess, non other than darren and his ever so wonderful website. i am doing the “blogging for beginners” thing utilizing his great newbie knowledge. hopefully, soon i too will have a website/blog for the world to read.
till next time.

Good luck with everything. You’ll go as far as you decide to.
new to the site…found it roundabout through Dan John, then Pavel, then the RKC certs page..looks pretty cool! so, how do kettlebells and olympic lifts jive…meaning- do they mesh well into workouts together? If so, do you have any resources that I could research on combining them? Thanks
Hi Chris, I have only the most remedial training on the O lifts, so I’m not going to pretend I know things I don’t. Randy Hauer is a friend of mine in Boulder who teaches Olympic lifting. here’s his blog:
http://katastrength.blogspot.com/
I can’t think of any reasons why kettlebells could not complement the Olympic lifts. The other resource I would mention is one that you already have: Dan John has done both for a long time.
I have now departed from the RKC methods in favor of something that is working a lot better for me. Here is my review of Gym Movement, which is about testing various movements with Range of motion tests in order to determine what exercises I will do in a given session:

And if that interests you I would over to Adam Glass’ blog and read through the archives:

let me know if you have more questions. I’d be happy to talk.
Hi Josh
I was delighted to come across your blog tonight (quite by accident – I was looking for an image of the jacket cover of an Anna Quindlen book for my blog and that led me to your page!)
It’s exciting to come across other librarians in cyberspace. I look forward to receiving your bookclub newsletter. I have a similar concept going on my library blog, but its early days so haven’t quite got it off the ground yet…your blog has got me motivated now. Thanks!
Kind regards
Sweet Little Library Girl
Hey Josh. Just subscribed to your newsletter. I am looking forward to anything you will write!
