HI, loving your site and the book donation. I also try to bring books to the kids here in our village in thailand, by scrounging them off publishers, friends and family.
Would LOVE IT if you can write me a guest post for your challenge- here are suggestions for topics ( as you will guess I’ve been struggling lately with my blog being too political, a little controversial, and the issues of self-censorship:
1) Dealing with the haters – maintaining zen when under blog-attack
2)Bringing back the humour – de-politicising a personal tirade of a blog
3)What to write and what not to write – how far should you self sensor vs. censoring based on other’s opinions?

Hi, Josh. I’ve been calling myself the World’s Strongest Librarian for years now – began strongman training in the mid-90s. I’m on Facebook – if you friend me, you can see some photos of me lifting a car, carrying a 200 pound rock, and other things. At this site: http://worldsstrongestlibrarian.blogspot.com/, you say you are claiming the title until someone calls you out. I’m not doing that – I’m having a hip problem that squashed my competitiveness – but I am letting you know you are not the only one claiming the title. :-) I really appreciate what you are doing with your site and your growing notoriety. Do Good and stay strong. Frank Roberts, library director, University of Maine at Farmington

But check out the comments. That’s where the most helpful stuff is. People had a lot of good ideas.

Thank you Josh for the fabulous blog, great topic regarding self-publishing/Createspace.

I am looking to publish and have been researching these past many months on the different paths available for getting my book out there. Traditional houses, self-publishing with packages and publishing using sites: Createspace and Smashwords.

I agree with the statement, that with self-publishing comes self-marketing, and although this subject is alien to me, I understand it is part of being an author. So, while I have watched and learned for those with experience, I have built a facebook, twitter and Booksie accounts. Created a .com site and will continue to push ahead.

My book is an Epic Fantasy and the first in a series. The Unseen Promise has taken me some time to complete and now that I am happy with the final piece, I wish for more than anything to hold a printed copy in my hand. The labour of love and frustration is a writers joy:)

I have heard chatter regarding Amazon and how they may be changing their approach to publishing books in the near future. The changes all talk of doom and gloom. Perhaps you might care to write a blog about this matter. I do not know much about it but I hope it does not affect what I wish to achieve.

Once again Josh I wish to state that I am thrilled to have stumbled onto your site and will bookmark it for further reads.

I have recommended your book to the proper selector and look forward to reading it. I also am a weight-lifting librarian! It is so nice to hear about more people who think that being strong and reading books goes together.

Dear Josh:
I’m 3/4 of the way through your book, on Kindle. I picked it up because of the connection to Tourette’s which my grand-nephew has. I am also, like you, a librarian although I was working at the desk before you were born. I have to tell you that the descriptions of your patrons made me laugh out loud while having my coffee in Panera. Is it possible that those people travel back and forth between SLC and Hoboken, NJ? The little boy getting slapped by his mother for her lack of supervision rang so true. I once had a father beat a child with a belt in front of me because I asked her to pick up the books she had scattered. BTW, I lived in CO for thirty years, so had many neighbors who were LDS (and many LDS boys who had crushes on my petite Jewish daughter. We used to refer to it as “Dayna in the Land of the Giants.” I believe you are doing with your book the work that they taught you before you went on your mission. You are bringing a gentle understanding to the practices of your church. Congratulations. I’ve been recommending your book highly to everyone I can.
