Back when I was an RKC kettlebell instructor, I heard a lot about how the RKC bells were the absolute best on the market. I actually still believe that. You can certainly make progress with just about any kettlebell, but my personal preference would be to have nothing but the quite-pricey dragon door bells if money were no object.
When I was ready to upgrade to the 40 kilogram kettlebell, AKA “The Bulldog” I decided that my psyche couldn’t quite handle the cost of a DD kb, so I decided to try Lifeline Kettlebells, which I had heard were comparable in size and feel.
I’ve had mine for about two years now and I have to agree. I have three RKC kettlebells and if I didn’t know them so well, I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between them and my Lifeline bell. I’ve talked with many other instructors and personal trainers who have experience both, and the majority of us agree that any differences between the two are negligible at best.
I have heard the odd horror story about the handle of someone’s Lifeline kb flying off, but have no experience with that myself. It sounds a little fishy to me. So going forward, I’d have no problem having only Lifeline bells, but for the last couple of years I have had the RKC discount, so I stocked up on their products. I really do believe that you’ll just as well with either brand.
