My worst work day was roughly 12 years ago. I worked for a large company who had an strick, unwritten dress code. Very conservative. I was new and not aware. The second week I went in wearing a suit with a skort (pant-dress). I was asked to go home and change. I came back the same day and the diamond popped out of my wedding ring while I was in the giant rolling file cabinets. It was a full carot and never found.

My worst day ever was while I was a librarian. It was New Year's Eve and our little town had decided that the library should stay open until midnight for the town celebration even though patrons couldn't check out books after 6pm. Every 5 minutes some one would come in and say "Can I check out a book or use the internet?" and we would have to say no. The librarians had to stay to watch over everything. At 11am I got a phone call from my brother telling me that his son had died. I was still at work and had to find someone to cover for me before going to the hospital to comfort my family.

Hey everyone. Sorry I wasn't around to comment today. I just finished the second workout of the day with Adam and am now going to find a nice grave to lie down in. Your responses are hilarious and tragic, as always.

Hi Josh:

My worst day at work has to be the day I got laid off from my favorite job (two jobs ago). It took me years to find the right company and right culture and then it was gone. It was also the first time I ever got laid off so it was pretty shocking to me.

During my summers off from university, I used to work as a custodian at a national park. My favourite cousin worked in the same department, so we had some good laughs.

One day, we got an 'emergency call' down to the main restroom block. A toilet, plugged to the brim with poo, had overflowed and was quickly swamping the entire floor. My cousin and I spent the next half hour alternately plunging, flushing, and dry-heaving, whilst we stood ankle deep in some park-goer's waste.

In retrospect, it's hilarious. Yeah, not-so-much at the time.

@Casey Yeah, the kids whose parents pay $26,000 a year for boarding school only have to share a room with one other person, or they have a private room. From what I remember, we put two sets of bunk beds into each room. :)

@Casey I think the worst days are those whose consequences bleed over into the future. If there is a project that I don't get done as well as I wished than I may have regret, but the things that really put me on edge are the mistakes that will linger. Its rare that some person or circumstance keeps me up at night (unless I have a new sweety). Usually if I can't sleep its because I have mishandled something in my work or personal life and I can't figure out how to put it right.

While some say anticipation can be better than realization in the realm of what is pleasing, I would say that the opposite is also true. When one knows that they will have to suffer the consequences of their mistakes that, to me, is generally worse than the consequences themselves.

Anticipation can mean some bad

My worst day of work has to be the summer of 2004 when I was selling books door to door in South Dakota.. The paticular area of the state that I was working in underwent the most tornados in a single day in the state's history. I had to take shelter in one of the houses that didn't buy from me that day as the tornados ripped their town apart.
