@Daisy: Actually his social skills are far better than many other peoples. He is able to make almost anyone like or love him and can manipulate anyone to doing what he wants. The problem is his affiliations and relationships are insincere and he ends up using people to his advantage due to his guiltless mind-state. Pechorin is simply a nihilist with nothing on his mind but to satisfy his daily boredom and getting into stories for his own amusement.

Casey, well said. I enjoyed reading about P., but wouldn't want to know him for very long personally.

The way you describe Pechorin he seem like someone we have all met. A man too smart and aloof to engage sincerely in the world we live in. These people are often engaging acquaintances and poor friends.

Thanks for the review.
