Hey Josh,

"Don’t Make Anyone’s Day Worse (Including Your Own)" is a great mantra for making yours and everyone else's day awesome.

The reason this simple method works so often is because most conscious people are busy making their day kick butt. They don't need babysitting; they know what they want, what makes them happy, and they're pursuing it.

All they need from you is to not suck. As long as you don't screw up their day, it'll keep getting better. They'll get the benefit from your interaction and your value as a person, and likewise for you (plus the satisfaction of not introducing any negative energy into the day).

I've never thought about it this way before - I always was trying to make someone's day better rather than, at the very least, not making it worse.

Thanks for this simple mantra,
Oleg

Louis: Thanks. I agree on all points. Too often people who are "people pleasers" wind up becoming doormats. Trying to make people smile has nothing to do with giving into their every whim and insecurity at your own expense. Send me a photo of your license and we'll compare notes:)

Great advice. I consider myself as a "people-pleaser". I always try to put a smile on every person that I talk to. But of course, trying to please someone has limits. We can't make things up or tell false stories just to make someone feel good or happy.

"Don’t tell someone their driver’s license photo is stunning if it’s actually a horror show." - LOL

So Josh, your hidden name is Polyanna, right?

I'm kidding! It's a great post and you know what, isn't it a weird world we live in when people are suspicious of those of us who try to live positive lives? Try this little experiment; next time you are on the subway or standing squashed in a bus, or just anywhere in a tightly packed crowd, smile at people around you.

I don't know about in the USA but in the UK, that is pretty much a guaranteed way of getting more space!

I'm going to retweet this post, and refer to it in an up coming post on my blog.

Thanks for posting it - have agreat day,
