I don’t read a lot of graphic novels, but I love Neil Gaiman’s Sandman stories. I’m talking about Sandman here today during October because of the story 24 Hours. It is truly one of the finest horror stories I’ve ever read. It just happens to be in a comic that I generally associate more with mythology.
I don’t want to give too much away–it’s a short story and it’s better to just see it unfold, particularly since the artwork is hugely responsible for the mood of the story and I can’t describe it.
But here are the bare bones. People are trapped in a diner. Someone has control over them, who can change their reality in any way he chooses. He’s not a very nice gent. You do not want him controlling your reality.
