I don’t like to do ripped-from-the-headlines posts very often, but I have to know what you thought of Opening Ceremonies for the 2012 Olympics.
Did you watch it? If so, did you like it? Love it? Hate it? Scratch your head?
I thought it was energetic, weird, and very, very British.
I’m a big Danny Boyle fan, but am still not sure what I think about last night.

I agree with you about the weirdness factor… I’m not sure what it says about a country when it celebrates their National Health Service in an Olympic Opening Ceremony. That said I did enjoy the light heartedness of James Bond and Her Majesty and the Chariots of Fire piss-take.
To answer your question there were parts I loved, parts I hated and parts I liked. I watched it with a full of questions four year old and so there was definitely some head scratching!
I thought the Cauldron was one of the coolest ever!
I thought it was really weird. Not very entertaining either. The hospital thing was weird….
I watched the whole thing with my kids. I don’t normally watch the opening ceremonies. That said, I thought it was entertaining as hell, and made me smile a bunch. Totally unexpected, and it kept me wondering what will they do next. They also paid Dr. Who a tribute by playing the Tardis noise during one of the songs.
The James Bond / Her Majesty part was hilarious!
I liked the Bond scene. I wasn’t bored for one second. I actually have a couple of friends who were disappointed that Dr. Who didn’t play a bigger role.
My daughter was really disappointed they didn’t do more for Dr. Who.
