Another Word for Beautiful, Brought to you by a Fun Thesaurus

beautiful woman

Looks like "you" is another word for beautiful. Congrats!

If you read the “another word for annoyed” post you learned of my deep, abiding love for the Oxford American Writer’s Thesaurus. My own writing recently brought me to a situation where I needed to find another word for beautiful. One, because beautiful just wasn’t quite descriptive enough, and two, because beautiful is the first word that came to mind.

From this wonderful, fun thesaurus (it’s true!):

Synonyms for beautiful:

  • attractive
  • pretty
  • handsome
  • good-looking
  • alluring
  • prepossessing
  • lovely
  • charming
  • delightful
  • appealing
  • engaging
  • winsome
  • ravishing
  • gorgeous
  • stunning
  • arresting
  • glamorous
  • bewitching
  • beguiling
  • graceful
  • elegant
  • exquisite
  • aesthetic

  • decorative
  • magnificent
  • divine
  • drop-dead gorgeous
  • easy on the eye
  • killer

This thesaurus also contains a fantastic word spectrum for beautiful, which means it takes you, by degrees, from the word most like beautiful (stunning), to the word least like beautiful (grotesque, then finally, ugly).
If you’re a word lover and/or a writer, I highly recommend this book. Now go forth and prosper, you prepossessing stunner.

Ah, Josh, the best writers know the power of the correct word . . . as you demonstrate.

I hope so, thank you. I do okay when I slow down.
