The Walking Dead – Books vs the Show?

walkingdead

The Walking Dead - most pleasant

I am as hooked on the show The Walking Dead as it is possible to be. I know it’s not perfect, but it has zombies and it has blasted, barren landscapes, and it has lots of guts and its pretty heavy on the stabbing. Actually, that doesn’t sound at all like something someone should enjoy, but oh well. I like it.

And from what the ratings are showing, I’m not alone.

The show came from a series of graphic novels which I have not read. So today’s question is for those of you who have any experience with the books.

Walking Dead, books vs the show? Which do you prefer? What are the major differences?

Should someone read the Walking Dead Comic books before watching the show?

    I think I must be a comic snob 🙁

I couldn’t get past the first few episodes of the tv series.

    Not sure why.

Now you’re making me think I should probably give the tv series another look and be a little more patient.

I’m sure that the first season was pretty screwy, narrative wise, given that they only had 6 episodes to really get things in place. I didn’t know any of the story and I still got the impression that they were in hyperspeed in terms of developing the characters.

I liked the show myself, though I prefer the comics. They’re definitively worth a peek if you like the show.

I’m already into the first couple. So far so good.
