Poll: What Is Your Perfect Job?

what color is your parachute

In my opinion, the best job-seeking book out there

I remember watching a commentary track on some South Park episode and Trey Parker said they frequently heard “Oh, you guys must have such a blast at work”!

His response was that “Well, yeah, sometimes, but when you are obligated to do something, it can still suck, even if you love it.”

Meaning, despite all the money, fame, what-have-you, the creators of South Park still have hectic schedules, tight deadlines, and  expectations from their audience.

Still, I like to ask what my perfect job is.

In my mind’s beady eye, it is a combination of:

  • Writing
  • Speaking
  • Traveling
  • And somehow getting paid to read The Onion

I think that’s about it. What about you?

What is your perfect job? Does it actually exist?

If so, are you moving toward it?

My perfect job would change every day. “Today, I think I’d like to be a graphic designer.” “Hm, tomorrow I think I’d rather be a marine biologist for a while…”

So I guess what I’m saying is that there isn’t one perfect job for me, but I want to try as many things as I can in this life.

I may be moving towards it.

My perfect job includes all of your above listed points, save for The Onion. I would do backflips if I were a paid ice hockey analyst.

However, if I can achieve a position with Trader Joes, that does not presently exist, which allows me to become a national safety and work-loss prevention officer, by using what I have learned as a trainer, that would be excellent.

“Big Will, we need u in Chicago for three days and then Albequerqe”

No problem! I can eat trader joes food and stay lean all the while rarely wanting for a consistent place to workout, for now I have Gym Movement!

    Word is life.

I truly enjoy when your posts ask for me to reply and talk about myself, which is my favorite subject 😉

I’m enjoying helping others get fit. Would I enjoy it if it were full-time? That would be the $64,000 question. Per year. Net. 🙂

An oldie but goodie is “Do what you want, the money will follow.” I’m not happy in my work now, so I’m looking to move into a different line of work. But until I can make a living that way, I need to stick to my current job.
    Darn it.
